Image
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council on Sunday said that President Muhammadu Buhari loves the people of the South-East more than all his predecessors in office. The council’s President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, revealed this in an interview with journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital. He was reacting to a statement credited to the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, that Buhari was promoting ethnic division in the country. He said, “President Buhari loves the Igbos more than any other President Nigeria ever had. “In 2003, he picked the late Chuba Okadigbo as his running mate. In 2011, he picked Edwin Ume-Ezeoke under the ANPP as his running mate. “He has shown so much love for the Igbos. Buhari believes in one Nigeria, against what people like Nwodo are saying. “We believe that the President will do everything possible not to allow those who feel aggrieved by their past misfortune to ruin the fortune of the country.” Isiguzoro added that Buhari loves the

Image
Amnesty International (AI) has cautioned Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu against giving approval for the execution of prisoners on death row. The agency while expressing concern over possible resumption of executions in Nigeria, said it was alarmed by March 27, 2019 report quoting Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adekola Olawoye, to the effect that the state governor would soon commence the signing of execution warrants. “Since the declaration was made, Amnesty International has received a report that the Ondo State Governor may have signed executions warrant. “Governor Rotimi Akeredolu must recognise that the death penalty is a cruel punishment th

Image

Omokri revealed this himself in a statement he released online.. Recall that Jonathan and the People’s Democratic Party lost to the All progressives congress and President Buhari in 2015 out of a notable presidential race which saw an officeholder president vanquished without precedent for the historical backdrop of law based standard in post-colonial Nigeria. It was also reported that Jonathan congratulated Buhari while the announced result was 14,932,385 to the 12,638,310 votes scored by Jonathan with only Borno state result waiting to be announced. Zamfara and The Conspiracy of the North

Image
Zamfara and The Conspiracy of the North The real reason why Zamfara killings are not abating is gradually coming out. The North is obviously playing with the intelligence of the South. I'll quote copiously  from Premium Times. Briefing newsmen in Abuja this evening, the IGP, Mohammed Adamu, unwittingly revealed: "... intelligence reports clearly established a strong and glaring nexus between the activities of armed bandits and ILLICIT miners - with both mutually re-enforcing each other." Wonderful! So we even have "illicit" miners in the North? How come the army never warned them like they do with the "illegal" oil bunkerers  in the South? What are they really mining? ...Gold? Diamond? Or Uranium? Why haven't we officially prospected for solid minerals in the North with the billions of dollars we are wasting prospecting for oil in the North? But let's continue: Announcing that mining activities in Zamfara and other affected

Popular SAN Reveals What Will Happen If Buhari Rejects CJN Onnoghen’s Resignation

Image
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Robert Clarke, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against rejecting the resignation of embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen. Justice Onnoghen, had over the weekend, tendered his resignation amidst trials over non-declaration of assets, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). Counsel to the embattled CJN, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), disclosed that his client (Onnoghen) took the decision in the interest of the judiciary. Speaking on the development, Clarke on Channels TV on Sunday blamed Onnoghen for his present predicament, adding that a petition by the EFCC should have warranted Onnoghen’s resignation since February. He further noted that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government should be given credit for taking the head of the judiciary to a tribunal but warned that a rejection of Onnoghen’s resignation will ‘create heat wave in Nigeria politics’. In his words, “The government has knowledge of many things whic

THE BARBARIC KILLINGS IN ZAMFARA STATE AND OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY MOST BE STOPPED.

Image
It's a clear statement that I Abdullahi  endorsed PMB's Next Level not because of his personal interest but in respect to the interest of Nigerians and Nigeria at large, and likely 99.9% of the BUHARIST too. With all due respect, it's a shameable to PMB, Minister of Defence, Minister of Interior, Northern Governors Forum, Northern Elites and most especially the awkward Governor of Zamfara State. It's all under your watch, terrorist are romancing with the lives and properties of the poor masses in Zamfara State and some parts of the Country at a whole. Is it negligences, immoralities or rampant curroption that security cover will not be a first priority to the poor masses. The purpose of National and State Security is to  provide means of protection on the lives and properties of the poor masses. But today in Nigeria revers be the case, whereby 80% of the Nigeria police are on VIP protection duties out of the 380,000 Policemen and women. Lets assume it's on

Varsities Can’t Continue To Survive On Govt Largesse, Says Babalakin

Image
Tare Youdeowei The Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Dr Wale Babalakin (SAN), has said universities cannot continue to survive on government largesse, adding that they must learn to invest and improve on revenue generation. Speaking on Thursday during the conferment of postgraduate and honorary degrees at UNILAG’s 50th convocation, Babalakin said Nigerians universities could not continue to survive as “government departments expecting government largesse.” ut if government cannot afford it, then we all must join forces to do it. If the choice is between quality education and free education, I choose the former.” Citing examples of universities that had worked hard to be self-sufficient, Babalakin said, “Harvard University today has an average of $36bn. Oxford and Cambridge universities jointly have about $30bn. “One college in Cambridge (Trinity College) has $1.3bn. How did these universities achieve this? The founders of these universities realised that univers

The Return Of Buhari; Great Expectations

Image
For Muhammadu Buhari, the excitement of winning what was unarguably one of the most keenly contested presidential elections in Nigeria’s history seems to be giving way to consideration of the legacy he will leave behind at the end of his eight years in office. “This is my fifth and last time of standing for an election – for that reason I’ll like to leave something behind. And what I want to leave cannot be successfully done without your support,” the President said while soliciting the cooperation of senators-elect of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at a dinner he hosted at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on a Monday night after his victory. Buhari’s meeting with the lawmakers who are already plotting on how to share the leadership position among themselves ahead of the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly is itself significant as an indication of his determination to do things in a different way in his second tenure of office. The President had stood aloof, refusing to inter

The 37-year-old Uzbekistan-Russian born played for Nigeria more than 60 times, scoring at the 2014 World Cup, and scored 36 goals in 129 Premier League appearances between 2010 and 2016. Odemwingie was a subject of controversy in the Premier League, suffering a Deadline Day transfer debacle in January 2013. Believing he was moving to QPR from West Brom, the striker drove to Loftus Road, only to be refused entry into the stadium after both clubs failed to agree on a fee. On his retirement, Odemwingie was quoted as saying by Sky Sports, “It’s an emotional day, so many memories go through your head.

”Please forgive us” – Repentant Boko Haram Members Appeals to Nigerians

Image
. The repentant sect members made the appeal after their graduation from a de-radicalisation exercise and vocational training organised for them by the Federal Government which took place at the former permanent NYSC Orientation camp in Mallam-Sidi town in Kwami Local Government Area of Gombe State yesterday April 3rd. Bappah Mura, a former member of the sect who was once a farmer, said he was deceived into joining the group only to realise that all they were told were lies;“I beg Nigerians for forgiveness. I regret totally what we were forced to do; it was not my intention but I beg for forgiveness. I was a humble farmer before I was deceived to join the Boko Haram sect. All they told us were different from all we were made to do; they lied to me and deceived many of us. My heart bleeds that we were used to destroy lives and property by the sect. But today, I am so happy that we have been trained and made to acquire skills in different ventures. I am grateful to

PERSECUTION OF THE PRESS: A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY BY Ifeanyi Okali

Image
PERSECUTION OF THE PRESS: A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY BY Ifeanyi Okali‍ That the media has for a long time been the target of a pre-planned and orchestrated attack in our society is no more news.  That the media has for a long time been the target of a pre-planned and orchestrated attack in our society is no more news. Right from the time of the courageous and fearless Dele Giwa the life and freedom of media practitioners has been a pawn in the chessboard of highly influential members of the society whose ego are bruised. What is however news is the intensity at which this dangerous omen is being perpetrated and given an ostentatious life even in a society that has constantly thumbed it chest as the champion of free speech, liberty of the press and a democratic state. Our country has been on the fast lane in setting a very dangerous and disturbing precedence with its fixation to rape, undermine and make mockery of the global charter of human right to speak and be heard. Hamas-Israel ‘Agreement’ On Reducing Gaza Tensions:

Image
Deal reached on eve of Great March of Return anniversary, media reported, but a Palestinian was killed on Saturday. A newspaper affiliated to  Hamas  has reported that a deal has been reached with  Israel  to reduce tension in the  Gaza Strip , as Palestinians prepare to mark the first anniversary of weekly protests along the border fence with Israel. Gaza’s fence with Israel has for the past year been the scene of mass protests and major bloodshed in which more than 260 Palestinians were killed by Israeli sniper fire and nearly 7,000 shot and wounded, according to Gaza’s health ministry. For months, and through repeated military escalations, Egyptian mediators have been trying to broker a truce. But on the eve of the anniversary of the so-called Great March of Return protests, the organising committee, which is calling for a “million man march” on Saturday, issued instructions to the demonstrators: stay back from Israeli guns, follow commands of organisers
