7,000 Police Officers Deployed In Edo

The Edo State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumusun, says the command has deployed 7,000 officers and men for the Saturday’s general elections in the state. He said the officer would complement those from the Force headquarters. Addressing journalists yesterday in Benin, Odumosun said other sister security agencies in the state would also join the police. He said three commissioners of police had also been deployed to the state to man the three senatorial districts for effective policing; while a Deputy Inspector General of Police would oversee operations in the South-South. “We are taking over from Thursday, we have been able to identify all our beats, the men have been posted and we have all their numbers, we have 7,000 men in Edo state, the Force Headquarters is deploying more men to the state in addition to our sister agencies here,” he said. He appealed to parents and guardians to warn their wards against being used as cannon for te election.
